Reports: Multiple Storms Douse California With Rain

CALIFORNIA - While my weather experience in Orange County is often sunnier than my Sacramento teammates', this morning we all awoke to the sounds of consistent and heavy rain as multiple systems roll across the state throughout the week.

The most immediate impacts are those of transport: Chain controls are in effect in the Sierra as snow continues to fall—meaning more snowpack collection as we continue to hope to stave off water concerns this summer—and traffic impacts on key highways in both Northern and Southern California.

A storm system will move across California throughout the week, bringing an average of one to two inches of rain, with some spots getting between 3–5 inches
A sequence of storm systems will move across California throughout the week, bringing an average of 1 to 2 inches of rain, with some spots getting between 3–5 inches

According to the Weather Channel, the storm systems are going to continue to bring wet and rain to the interior of the West, but the impacts are mostly expected to the Golden State.

Now through tomorrow, the initial system will be seen through Central and Southern California, followed by a second system later in the week focused more on Northern and Central California.

“The flood threat is the thing that's really the most concerning with the storm widespread, 1 to 2 inches of rain, but some localized spots could see 3 to 5 here and there, don't be surprised,” Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari reported.

AndNowUKnow will continue to report any anticipated effects of the weather as they become known.
