GREENSBORO, NC - Last week, The Fresh Market launched a critical fundraising campaign to support the country of Ukraine. Like multiple other industry members have done, the retailer is teaming up with World Central Kitchen (WCK), committing to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from purchases of a five-stem pack of sunflowers and a special bouquet with blue and yellow flowers as a nod to the Ukrainian flag.

Jason Potter, Chief Executive Officer, The Fresh Market“We are profoundly moved by the efforts being made by World Central Kitchen and the volunteer chefs who are providing a warm meal and food stability to the Ukrainian people who are fleeing their homes and homeland,” states Jason Potter, Chief Executive Officer. “We understand the importance of fresh food and the comfort of a warm meal and welcome the guests of The Fresh Market to join us in these fundraising efforts to help provide food to those in need.”

WCK is currently providing freshly made, nutritious meals to those fleeing their homes in the Ukraine. The organization’s Chef Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. WCK depends on a model of quick action, leveraging local resources, adapting in real time, and partnering with organizations on the ground.

Currently, the organization’s #ChefsforUkraine effort has expanded its distribution to serve refugees in five countries, according to a press release. WKC has served more than 1 million meals to Ukrainian refugees as part of these relief efforts.

The Fresh Market’s fundraiser is set to run through April 12.
