Sunbury, PA - Weis Markets is opening a new set of doors on February 26, 2012. The company will be unveiling its new 62,000-square-foot flagship superstore in Spring Township near Bellefonte. The facility will replace Weis Markets’ Bellefonte store which plans to close February 25th at 6pm, according to a press release. To help mark the occasion at the Grand Opening celebration, Weis Markets will donate $22,000 to twelve local charities including Centre Volunteers for Medicine, Faith Centre Food Bank, Bellefonte High School Band Boosters, the Centre County 4H Club and volunteer fire companies.
The flagship superstore will boast a larger perishable departments, a 35-seat café selling consumer's favorite brews for takeout and on premise consumption, as well as more food for the choosing in every department. The store will also feature a full service pharmacy and a fuel center. The overall project cost is over $20 million. Weis Markets’ new superstore will include advanced refrigeration technologies to reduce refrigerant emissions by 60%, decreasing its environmental impact.
