Mexican avocados are projected to be dominate the US market from November to mid-Spring as California's avocado crop comes to a close. The Mexican avocado season has been a little rocky this year, due to a combination of light yields and excess supply of California fruit, but APEAM projects Mexican avocados will account for around a 55 percent share of the U.S. market from October to December, and will maintain good volume for the whole of 2011, according to their marketing director, Emiliano Escobedo.

Mark Haun is the new Business Development Manager at WP Rawl. Mr. Haun has over 24 years of experience in the food industry and a decade in the produce industry. In response to the news, Haun stated “I love the food business and fresh produce is a dynamic part of the food world. Rawl's commitment to expanding value added fresh produce through new items and licensing partnerships is contagious and I’m excited to help them expand distribution of new and existing product lines.”

After seeing 6 years of extraordinary growth in potato exports, the Idaho Potato Commission has announced that Amanda Albers will serve as its very first International Marketing Manager. The IPC’s International Division, with new offices in Mexico, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, will be looking to secure opportunities in foreign markets and to assist Idaho potato shippers who want to export overseas. Seth Pemsler, Vice President Retail/International noted that “With the addition of Amanda and our partners overseas, the IPC will be able to further increase its presence in the international trade market, ultimately increasing sales and margin for the entire Idaho potato industry.”
