Columbia Marketing International has introduced what it calls "the sweetest little apricot you've ever tasted. The Sweet Juliet apricot is a unique tasting fruit that exceptionally rich, sweet flavor with very juicy flesh. The variety is grown along the banks of the Columbia River in Washington state by CMI's growers and is available only in July.

The California Grape and Tree Fruit League recently held its Board of Directors meeting in Sacramento, CA. During the meeting, several new grower members were added to the League, including Brighton Distributing, The Peterson Family, Wagon Wheel Farms and Wilson Farms. The Board also voted in favor of supporting the Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Act of 2010. The next board meeting is scheduled for November 5 in Monterey.

United Fresh is offering new Targeted Breakout session at this year's Washington Public Policy Conference. The Grower-Shipper board will focus on regulatory and marketing aspects of pesticide residue. The Fresh-Cut Processor session will cover how the fresh-cut sector addresses food safety. The Wholesaler-Distributor Board is aimed at providing incentives to terminal markets in developing regional food systems and the Retail-Foodservice Board will focus on how government and industry can work with buyers to provide the safest produce year-round.
