Columbia Marketing International is now offering its imported pears out of the Southern Hemisphere. Pears have already began arriving from Argentina and Chile, through CMI’s exclusive pear import programs on the Gaucho and Unifrutti labels. VP of Marketing, Bob Mast, stated, “The quality of the product this year looks outstanding and the taste is flavorful and juicy.” The Forelles are a distinguishable variety to look for, which are imported from both Chile and Argentina. The company also offers Williams, Red Williams, Packhams, Golden Bosc and Red Anjou, which are all brought in from Argentina. The fruit is anticipated to be available through late June or early July.

He’s a 20 year public relations veteran, and now Glenn Boyet will be extending his expertise as PMA’s new Senior Director for Public Relations. Mr. Boyet will be responsible for strengthening the Association’s brand and value through its outreach programs to members, media and government. Mr. Boyet said “I understand the great impact both traditional and social media are playing across all industries and I look forward to putting my skills to work to help PMA expand the value and service we provide to members around the world through innovative communications programs.” Good luck, Mr Boyet, in your new role!

Testa Produce is announcing the opening of its new distribution center in the Chicago Stockyards Industrial Park. The 91,000 square foot facility is poised to become the first foodservice distribution center to be LEED Platinum certified by the US Green Building Council. Sustainability features include the first freestanding wind turbine in Chicago, 100% solar heated water, and extensive LED lighting. President and CEO, Peter Testa, stated “Four and a half years were spent designing and building this building. We’re very proud of this moment.”
