Crunch Pak has been recognized by the retail industry for their breakthrough efforts in fresh sliced apples. The 2011 Trailblazer award was given to Crunch Pak by Grocery Headquarters magazine in recognition for their innovative approach to supplying fresh, sliced apples. Tony Freytag, marketing director for Cunch Pak, stated that "it's very gratifying after 10 years to be recognized by your peers for your commitment to packaging and selling an excellent fresh product."
The Florida Strawberry Growers Association is joining the social network in order to encourage consumers to eat more fresh strawberries throughout this winter. The FSGA is trying to target the foodservice market as well, through sites such as Facebook. This is also the second year that the association will use Jammer, their animated strawberry character, to promote Florida's berries.
Industry vet Chris DeSana has joined Seald Sweets International. Mr. DeSana, who will serve as an account executive for the Northeast, brings over 25 years of produce industry experience to the Vero Beach-based company. He was previously with Sbrocco International. Seald Sweet's CEO Mayda Sotomayor stated that "We feel Chris will be instrumental in the further expansion of our Northeast operations."
