It’s not easy being green, unless of course, it saves you green! Case in point: Onion packer and shipper Murakami Produce! The company has been named one of Idaho Power’s Top Ten Energy Efficiency Program Participants. The company has recently undertaken an aggressive restructuring program to make their plants as eco-friendly as possible. The updates included replacing fan motors with high-efficiency ones and instituting a system of computer controlled panels in place of storage control panels to monitor temperature, humidity, airflow and static pressure. The result? Energy savings of more than 1,890,000 kilowatt-hours every year! President Grant Kitamura stated, “The energy savings is amazing. I am very proud we are doing our part to preserve our environment.”
