Good news for California guacamole lovers: avocados will now be even fresher! Giumarra Agricom International just hosted the grand opening of its new avocado packaging facility in Ventura, California. By minimizing the crop’s transport, Giumarra will ensure fresher products and decrease its carbon footprint. The center’s new business development manager, Tom Vaughn, said, “We want to be a strong part of the northern avocado growing community, and having a facility in Ventura allows us to interface with our growers.”
L&M has a new exclusive marketing relationship with Washington-based grower, Eakin Fruit. The deal means that L&M can now add Italian Prunes, Empress Plums, and President Plums to its extensive repertoire of product offerings. The company has been expanding rapidly, this being their fourth partnership with a shipper within the past three years. Richard Gonzales, General Manager of the Washington Division, stated, “It’s about building our business with the right suppliers and the right customers to create a true win-win for both the customers and for the growers.”
Edge Sales & Marketing is announcing the addition of Teresa Estrada as Safeway Account Manager. Ms. Estrada will assist in the areas of business management, account management, analytics, marketing, and retail merchandising. Estrada has worked as National Account Manager for Red Bull, Corporate Brands Marketing Manager for Safeway, and most recently as Senior Leadership Manager for Nestle/Dryers.
