This company has aged like a fine wine. The 2011 Idaho potato harvest, is marking the 75th anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission. With 319,000 acres and an expected yield of more than 12 billion pounds of potatoes, the commission is proving to aging nicely. Frank Muir, President and CEO, Idaho Potato Commission states, ""Idaho has a formula for growing potatoes that cannot be beat. Yes, our unique growing environment naturally produces a potato that is high in solids and has a lower moisture content, but the magic really belongs to the growers. They are the ones who know how to skillfully utilize Mother Nature’s gifts to grow a quality potato while maintaining the integrity of the great land on which they are grown."
These two are being presented with a reward of gold. California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement honored two industry leaders at a breakfast meeting held at the Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit in Atlanta. Bill Pool of Wegmans and Mike Spinazzola of Diversified Restaurant Systems, were presented with LGMA’s Golden Checkmark Award. The honor recognizes "individuals and organizations that support mandatory government inspection of food safety practices in the produce industry." LGMA CEO Scott Horsfall states, of the exceptional individuals, “These two recipients are industry leaders in the field of food safety, each working to protect public health by maintaining the highest food safety standards for their companies."
It is good to be king. King Fresh is announcing its entry into the California citrus market. The company that supports its California roots with a global reach will be packing at our Jody Fresh facility. The company is busy making modifications to their equipment and plans to begin providing Navel Oranges by November 10th and will run through the month of April.
