Ocean Mist Farms is celebrating the success of its inaugural leadership development program, graduating its first class in a ceremony on Nov. 19. The program is designed to cultivate the company’s promising individuals from within, through a curriculum that includes themes ranging from self-awareness to change management and strategic planning. Jorge Suarez, Director of Human Resources for Ocean Mist, states, "This program is about developing key human capital at Ocean Mist Farms." Mr. Suarez continues, "We identified the employees with the potential to grow our business, and we invested in them as part of our company’s future.”
Bland Farms Owner and President, Delbert Bland, is naming David Beecher, Director of Operations. In his new role Mr. Beecher will oversee all operations of the company as well as its Distribution Services facility in Donna, Texas. With four years as Rosemont Farms' Vice President of Operations and Logistics and fourteen years with IFCO, Mr. Beecher is bringing his fair share of industry knowledge. The new Director of Operations states, “Everyone at Bland Farms is motivated and loyal to Delbert and the team. I’m looking forward to growing the team and working at making a great company even better.”
This year marks the sixth Christmas that the Allen Lund Company has teamed up to contribute fresh produce to Navidad en el Barrio. Also participating are Salinas, Central Valley and Yuma, AZ growers that include Sunsation Farms, Inc. from Monterey, CA, Fillmore Piru Citrus of Fillmore, CA, as well as Taylor Farms and Steinbeck Country Produce of Salinas, CA. The non-profit organization, Navidad en el Barrio, provides food baskets to more than 20,000 families at or near the poverty level around Southern California at Christmas. The Allen Lund Company will be donating the cost of transporting the produce. Allen Lund, President and CEO of the company reflects, "We are blessed to be in the position to be able to donate transportation services to Navidad en el Barrio...it is a testament to our growers and shippers that they see value in donating perishable goods each year, which makes the food baskets even healthier."
