Are these Bay Area watermelons made of solid gold? A Pak N Save supermarket in Emeryville made a huge mistake when pricing their watermelons. $6.99 per pound brings the price of a single melon to almost $100. How can I get started in the watermelon business?

Thanks to the skyrocketing price of watermelons, I suspect we may soon start to see a surge in growers starting to add this fruit to their catalogue. This is where all the money is at, folks. Believe it or not, watermelons are making a comeback this year. :)

Although, the question that remains is whether or not consumers are willing to purchase these watermelons. A representative of Safeway, which owns Pak N Save, said the watermelons should only cost 49 cents per pound and anyone who overpaid is entitled to a refund, according to ABC Local.

Oh well. We can all dream, can't we?
