Pear Bureau Northwest is hoping their new partnership with Schoolmenu.com will give kids a hunger for eating a healthy diet. The collaboration will allow Pear Bureau Northwest to educate families and school foodservice specialists about pears. President and CEO of Pear Bureau Northwest, Kevin Moffitt, said quote: “We are pleased to work with Schoolmenu.com to raise awareness about the versatility of fresh pears in school cafeteria programs and to join in the effort to encourage students to make healthy choices in cafeterias across the U.S.”
California Giant Berry Farms has a new General Manager for their blueberry packing operations. Evan Pence started the position February 1st, and will be responsible for directing blueberry packing operations. He stated “It is definitely an exciting time for me, my family and friends. I look forward to working with the staff at Cal Giant, the growers, and the ag community in the Pacific Northwest.” Pence has an operational background working for companies such as Del Monte Fresh and Wawona Frozen Foods.
Big changes for All State Packers Incorporated! The large pear, cherry and asparagus grower-shipper is reorganizing and changing its name to Rivermaid Trading Company. Co-owner Chiles Wilson said quote, “Over the past few years, our growth forced us to evaluate how we do business from top to bottom. We have fine-tuned our operation from the orchards through marketing, to the point where we feel we are the best at what we do.” Three employees will also be promoted as part of the changes.
