A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market took place March 25th. The new state-of-the-art, 700,000 square foot market is located on Essington Avenue. President and CEO Sonny DiCrecchio stated quote, “after ten years of planning, building and overseeing the completion of this one-of-a-kind facility, we are excited to celebrate with the community as we officially open our doors for business.”
Greg Smith is joining Brooks Tropicals as their new CEO. Mr. Smith comes to the tropical produce company after 37 years at Coca-Cola, with a background in operations, finance and procurement. He stated, “I see myself getting passionate about both the business and the industry, but that will not be hard to do considering the Brooks name, the people and our position in the industry.”
Cenergy Power just completed installing a new solar system for J. Marchini Farms. The solar photovoltaic system will supply solar power to cold storage and processing operations at the Marchini production facility. The system is anticipated to generate more than 830,000 kilowatt hours of solar power per year, which means the system will pay for itself in less than 5 years! President Joe Marchini said quote, “In addition to quick return on our capital, we feel great about being more energy independent while reducing our carbon footprint.”
