This fruit company is completely associated with health, and not just because of their antioxidant-laden products. Rainier Fruit Company just hosted their fourth annual Wellness Day to promote employee health. The event centered around the introduction of a new 1 ½ mile walking path and included complimentary eye exams, mini-massages, gardening seminars and Zumba demonstrations. The yearly fairs seem to be working: Suzanne Wolter, Director of Marketing, stated “Over the last few years there has been a noticeable change in the eating, snacking and activity levels of many employees which is gradually permeating throughout the workforce

The company is covering all bases with its “Giant Fans of Baseball” campaign, which includes radio ads on KNBR during each San Francisco Giant’s game, and a giveaway to a youth group or camp. In addition, California Giant is starting a national sweepstakes online,where seven weeks of prizes will be awarded. President and CEO Bill Moncovich stated, ““There are several moving parts to this promotion that will really engage the consumer and promote our berries as an essential part of summer activities.” The promotion runs through July 11th. Produce leaders ready to take on Capitol Hill, listen up! Registration is now open for the Washington Public Policy Conference. The annual policy summit of the United Fresh Produce Association focuses on agriculture farm programs, mandatory e-verify requirements, the impact of the new food safety law on the industry and regulatory challenges surrounding the field. United Fresh President Tom Stenzel stated, ““WPPC offers unprecedented, face-to-face access to leaders in the House and Senate, and administration officials in the White House, at FDA, USDA, EPA and other federal agencies.” The conference takes place October 3rd through 5th.
