Southern Specialties, Inc. has begun shipping its hothouse grown Southern Selects Heirloom tomatoes. Grown in Florida and Mexico, these tomatoes offer a single layer variety pack offering Gold Medal, Brandywine and Purple Cherokee tomatoes. The true heirlooms are grown from seeds that have been treasured and passed from one generation to the next. PLU stickered and packed for protection in foam lined boxes, the tomatoes can be included in mixed loads with other specialty produce from the Southern Specialties.

Sunwest Fruit Company Inc., is being recognized by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, for its efforts and innovations in reducing its use of pesticides. The company has been honored with the Integrated Pest Management Innovator Award for its concern with pest prevention, with an emphasis on favoring the least-hazardous pest management, and communicating the successful strategies with others.
