Sysco Breaks Ground on 100,000-Square-Foot Facility Expansion



HOUSTON, TX - Sysco Corp. is digging into an expansion of its Atlanta facility on May 17, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, when it will host a groundbreaking ceremony with state and local officials, Sysco associates, and other members of the community.

In addition, we look forward to continuing to serve our customers with the increased capabilities our expanded facility will bring.”

The project will include an addition of 100,000-square-feet to the existing 562,000-square-foot building on Riverdale Road, according to a press release, creating 100 new jobs for the Sysco Atlanta operation within five years.

Sysco noted that this new section to the facility will include a number of sustainability initiatives, such as:

  • An ammonia refrigeration system
  • Truck wash water recycling system
  • LED lighting in the freezer and cooler expansion areas
  • A battery charging station with Rapid-Charge technology

The new section will feature freezer space, cold dock space, and a vehicle maintenance facility, all together scheduled to take approximately 20 months to complete.
