Tanimura and Antle is shinning some light on its new “Celebrate Summer” promotion. Shoppers can participate in a weekly sweepstakes for $250 dollar gift cards and access recipes by scanning a QR code or visiting artisanlettuce.com. This campaign is also available in Canada and runs May through July. Director of Marketing, Diana McClean, stated “We’re optimistic that the inclusion of the Canadian market and QR code will increase the number of consumers who respond to this program.”

Stemilt Growers is almost finished with construction of a new red cherry line at its Old Station packing facility. in preparation for the 2011 cherry season. This multi-phase capital project – valued at $3 million – will significantly increase throughput and sorting capacity on this main cherry packing line. Roger Pepperl, Stemilt’s marketing director, stated “We are significantly changing the way we size and sort cherries on this new line. The use of modern technologies and processes joins our continued focus on maintaining the cold chain in order to deliver consistent, high-quality cherries to the marketplace.”

DeltaTRAK has introduced a new line of bacteria detection kits. Their FlashCheck Real-Time Bacterial Enzyme Detection kits will allow growers and processors to identify the presence of harmful bacteria on products or equipment in as little as 20 minutes. Frederick Wu, president and CEO of DeltaTRAK, stated "Field studies and microbial rapid screen validations at the University of California Davis and Michigan State University confirmed that the FlashCheck test kits demonstrated over 98% accuracy when compared to traditional growth media procedures."
