US Foods Unveils Millennial-Focused Spring Scoop 2017

ROSEMONT, IL - With millennials continuing to be a key demographic in the buy-side sector, US Foods is looking to help restaurants tap in on the segment with its newly unveiled Spring Scoop™ 2017. Highlighting “What Millennials Crave,” the company is pinpointing 26 new products in its latest release.

Stacie Sopinka, Vice President of Product Development & Innovation, US Foods“Millennials spend more on dining out than any other demographic, so it’s essential for restaurateurs to understand their preferences and shape their menus accordingly,” said Stacie Sopinka, Vice President of Product Development and Innovation, in a press release. “Our product development team—made up largely of millennials—dove deep into dining trends and came up with a diverse new set of products and services that will help our customers grow sales with this critical cohort while also saving time and money.”

Amongst its new product lineup comes, of course, a tantalizing selection of fresh produce. Looking to put fresh fruits and vegetables closer to the center of the plate, and dining experience, the company has tapped these offerings as menu items sure to inspire the millennial diner:

  • Battered Avocado Slices
  • Brussels Sprout Petals
  • Multi-Color Cauliflower Blend
  • Organic Lemony Rocket Blend
  • Trimmed Watermelon Radishes

The company also noted several trends that may help restaurant customers tap into the millennial market, including the following:

Global Cuisine

Nearly half of millennial diners, US Foods noted, reportedly want more globally-inspired cuisine options, and with the Spring Scoop, US Foods is providing operators with unique product offerings—such as Pacific Jade® Indian Curry, Thai Red Curry Sauce Starters, and Chef’s Line® All Natural Chicken Shawarma—designed to meet growing demand for international fare.

Diners Want the Real Deal

Millennial consumers are looking for natural, organic dishes made with sustainably-sourced ingredients. And with products like Chef’s Line All Natural Fire Grilled Chicken Breast and White and Dark Turkey Burgers—vegetarian-fed, antibiotic-free poultry—US Foods is hoping to cater to these consumers’ demands.

Eating on the Go

With 70 percent of millennials reportedly buying grab-and-go sandwiches, among other convenient offerings, restaurants have an opportunity to grow their sales and capture market share with convenient, portable options. Spring Scoop features perfect fixings for a take-out sandwich with its Chef’s Line Aged Cheddar, Onion Bialys, and Beef & Truffle Patties from reknowned butcher Pat LaFrieda. Devonshire® Black Velvet Cookies and Glenview Farms® Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream Pucks are also featured as sweet snacks for the millennial on the move.
