Produce professionals from across the country will meet with government policy makers next Monday in Washington D.C. to take part in United's Washington Public Policy Conference. Sarah Hoxie was joined by three industry leaders to discuss why this year's show might be the most important yet.
Nelia Alamo, Director of Sales and Marketing for Gills Onions stated "It's one the most important industry events we have going. It is your chance to have a voice in the decision making that happens in Washington, D.C. "
Phil Gruszka, Vice President of Grimmway Farms shared his thoughts about the upcoming WPPC, mentioning that the "government really does shape a lot of policies and the way that we can do business. Getting out of your daily routine, working with people from other companies, and then hearing some things about the future, how we can better move the industry forward, and how we can better be stewards for the industry, that's time well spent."
Barry Bedwell, President of the California Grape and Tree Fruit league states, "The WPPC has become the premier public policy event in Washington, D.C. in conjunction with United Fresh and the Regional Association. Their timing is once again perfect given the issues that are at hand. I think that the best results you can get from going are a very clear understanding of the issues that impact our produce industry."
