GR Fresh's Tony Incaviglia Discusses New Summer Items and Growth

MCALLEN, TX - Summer is well under way, with a number of new items coming in hot for GR Fresh. VP of Sales and Marketing Tony Incaviglia took the time to give me some insights on what to expect as the company bolsters its offerings and tightens up its product calendar.

Tony Incaviglia, VP of Sales and Marketing, GR Fresh“We have a lot of new products we are focusing on,” Tony explains, detailing that the list includes Round tomatoes, red La Rouge bell peppers, and mini sweet peppers. “Romas are in full production in our new location, and we are expecting solid volume in the coming months. Round tomatoes are also a newer summer offering for us, allowing us to provide more consistent supply and a stronger portfolio to carry over into the winter.”

The La Rouge bells are a high-demand variety as well, Tony shares, explaining that its popularity makes for a welcome addition to GR Fresh as it looks to answer a hungry market. They will kick off with the company's green bell pepper program come July.

The company is also delving deeper into the value-added market, both with new packaging for its mini sweet peppers and its popular Hot Pepper Package program.

“This program provides a number of hot peppers, anything from jalapeño, to anaheims, serranos, pablanos, or habaneros, in a convenient 8 oz bag for our retail partners, and have been a consistent grower since we launched it last summer,” Tony says.

Mini Hot Peppers

As for the mini sweet pepper packaging, not only does a clear plastic poly bag allow consumers to see the multi-colored snacking peppers, but the top of the package includes a high-resolution image of the mini peppers’ home for extra transparency and a strong way to drive the company’s story.

But, even with all this new activity, GR Fresh is still looking to the steadfast offerings its customers know and love.

“Our smiley-faced white onions with the fun tagline ‘our onions don’t cry’ will continue on through the summer, as well as our well-dressed cucumbers, our first-class Romas, green bell peppers, and, of course, our Grape tomatoes,” Tony comments, adding that volumes are strong and stable to meet any and all retail needs.

Over all, GR Fresh reports strong volume and quality with beautiful weather as the summer gears are well underway.
