New York Apple Association Welcomes Cynthia Haskins as President and CEO



FISHERS, NY – The new year is poised to bring exciting things to our industry, and New York Apple Association (NYAA) is kicking off 2017’s first week with a new leadership announcement. The company has announced that Cynthia Haskins will lead operations as NYAA’s new President and CEO

“I am thrilled to partner with New York Apple Association’s dedicated board, committed staff, and critical partners to expand brand recognition and consumption of New York apples and products,” Cynthia said. “This is an ideal leadership opportunity to marry my passion for working with growers and industry to expand markets locally, nationally, and globally.”

Cynthia brings extensive experience to her new executive position with NYAA. According to a press release, Cynthia possesses vast knowledge of the produce industry from working with organizations such as the following:

  • The Oppenheimer Group
  • Washington Apple Commission
  • Northern Plains Potato Growers Association
  • Dole
  • Sunkist
  • Missouri Department of Agriculture
  • Illinois Farm Bureau

“We welcome Cynthia’s vast experience and leadership to the New York apple community,” said Jason Woodworth, Chairman of NYAA’s Board of Directors. “Cynthia has a results-oriented approach and a broad background that will serve our diverse industry well.”

Cynthia will guide NYAA as it promotes demand for the high volume of New York produced and packed apples and apple products. NYAA highlights these items through promotions and educational work with retailers, other handlers, consumers, processors, and more. NYAA also works with state and federal legislators and regulators.

“Cynthia’s experience in the domestic and international apple industries–coupled with her skills in marketing, association management, and government relations–will be strong assets as we look to the future,” finished Jason. 

In her position as CEO, Haskins will succeed Jim Allen, who retired from the company on January 2 after a 20-year career with NYAA. Jim also held 16 years as the company’s President.
