NatureFresh™ Farms Gains Greater Presence within Cucumber Category
LEAMINGTON, ON - Got cucumbers? NatureFresh™ Farms does! The company expanded its acreage earlier this year, adding 17 more acres for its cucumber operation to further boost its Long English Cucumbers and Mini Cucumbers sales and meet consumer demand. The new addition to the greenhouse operations looks to technology and innovation to stay ahead of the curve, with state-of-the-art automations put into place to increase efficiencies, such as the cucumber dumpsters and robot case stackers.
“While some of our retailers are reporting year-over-year growth of 25-45% in this category, others have still not fully tapped into this growing market. When merchandized properly, retailers can see massive sales potential with Long English Cucumbers—it is a matter of getting the product out of the back corners of the wet racks and merchandizing them in large bulk displays on the floor,” said Executive Retail Sales Account Manager Matt Quiring. “Product education is also key to tapping into this growth—when we take our Greenhouse Education Center to certain regions in the USA, we can educate consumers about the product, sharing storage tips, as well as usage and recipe ideas! Those who are doing it right are selling up to 30-40% more volume than those who have not taken these steps. We constantly work with our retail partners to help drive this home and have experienced very positive results with those who execute the strategy!”
NatureFresh Farms has grown dramatically over the past five years, providing retailers with more high-quality cucumbers from its Vine Fresh Acres greenhouse located in Leamington, Ontario, since 2015. According to a press release, Quiring foresees more growth in the U.S. cucumber market.
Since adding the 17 acres to the greenhouse operations, NatureFresh Farms has seen exponential growth and seeks to meet increased demand with year-round availability of greenhouse-grown cucumbers. With this step, the company boosts its presence in the cucumber category.
