BRENTWOOD, MO - September is the time to spotlight all of the delicious, high-quality products that adorn the produce department, as it is recognized as National Fruits & Veggies Month (NFVM). In honor of the month-long celebration, The Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) is singing praises for all of Americans’ favorite produce items, engaging consumers with exciting digital and social activations, globally inspired content, recipes, and more.

Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, President and Chief Executive Officer, Produce for Better Health Foundation“If there is ONE thing we can all rally behind, it’s the multitude of benefits that come with eating more fruits and vegetables—from the sweet-tasting, healthy eating experience of fruits to the smart satisfaction and pride associated with preparing vegetables with a meal,” said Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Enjoying fruits and veggies for a happier, healthier lifestyle is a common thread in every culture, and National Fruit & Veggies Month 2021 is the perfect time to drum up excitement for the world’s favorite and flavorful plants.”

As we kick off the September month and the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables, PBH will be diving into five unique themes throughout PBH’s digital ecosystem, a press release noted. PBH will be inviting all seven continents to #haveaplant, showcasing the dedicated efforts of those in the produce supply chain who bring fruits and veggies to consumers’ tables, as well as uniquely inspired ways to enjoy produce in all its forms to improve overall health and happiness.

Katie Calligaro, Marketing and Communications Director, Produce for Better Health Foundation“PBH is committed to improving fruit and vegetable consumption in America, and we’re hoping this September we can make an even bigger splash than 2020’s 75 million impressions during the month alone,” says Katie Calligaro, Marketing and Communications Director. “We need everyone to get involved to generate even more excitement and spread the Have A Plant® love this year—now more than ever when people are craving inspiration and care about their health and happiness.”

In addition to the mouthwatering recipes, PBH has also tapped its Have A Plant Ambassadors to back NFVM and leverage their popular platforms to boost the movement. Some of the exciting events taking place during NFVM include:

  • Bowls Around The World – Celebrate the flavor and healthful goodness of fruits and veggies in delicious bowls inspired by flavors from across the globe
  • Fruits & Veggies In Every Culture – Learn where various fruits and veggies originated as well as their traditional uses in certain cultures
  • In The Ground, On A Vine, From A Tree – Honor our country’s fruit and veggie farms by taking a closer look at how plants are grown and celebrate global agriculture as part of the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables

In honor of National Fruits & Veggies Month, The Produce for Better Health Foundation is celebrating Americans’ favorite produce items with exciting digital and social activations, globally inspired content, recipes, and more

These are only a few of the chances to celebrate fresh produce during the month of September. The full calendar of engaging, fresh-forward events can be found here.
