Red Sun Farms' Leona Neill Discusses Strategic Investments

KINGSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA - As it continues to diversify options for both shoppers and buyers, Red Sun Farms has made strategic investments to ensure that its customers have access to great-tasting tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. I spoke with Leona Neill, Director of Marketing and Packaging, to dive deeper into specifics.

Leona Neill, Director of Marketing and Packaging, Red Sun Farms“Red Sun Farms is currently investing in increased acreage to support the growing demand of our Sweetpops movement. Some of our customers have also started to carry both the 10 oz and 1.5 lb offering because they just can’t get enough Sweetpops! This spring, we will be launching a new campaign to further introduce this tomato’s flavor personality—something this good needs to be shared with all tomato lovers,” she expressed.

This demand for Sweetpops is best explained by the variety’s extraordinary flavor, which Leona noted is exceptional.

“These bite-size snacking tomatoes are absolutely packed with tomato personality. They’re a sweet juicy pop in every bite! We guarantee the Sweetpops variety and brand will establish a new standard for the perfect tomato eating experience,” she explained. “Consumers can’t stop eating them once they start. If you haven't tried them yet, we challenge you to add these little gems to your shopping list.”

In order to make good on this promise, multiple investments across Red Sun’s operations have leveled up the grower’s ability to deliver on locally-grown demand.

“We’re committed to meeting the growing demands of our customers and delighting them with some of the best-tasting tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. We have invested in high-tech greenhouse growth in Mexico and Canada, and will be operating 788 acres in 2022! Additionally, we have invested in our distribution centers to support this demand.”

Year-round supply has long been a commitment of the Red Sun Farms leadership team, which has worked to build an integrated business model that ensures quality, food safety, flavor, and supply 365 days a year.

Red Sun Farms has also invested in high-tech greenhouse growth in Mexico and Canada, with plans to operate 788 acres by 2022

“This vision has resulted in farms in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, with distribution centers throughout to support the demand. Not to boast, but we have the very best master growers who are responsible for hand-selecting varieties of our delicious tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. We pride ourselves on being able to delight and exceed our customers' flavor expectations. The Red Sun Farms varieties deliver solutions for snacking, complimenting a favorite dish, or creating exciting new culinary experiences,” Leona concluded.
