Southeast Produce Council Welcomes Tim Graas as Chairman of the Board; David Sherrod and Raina Nelson Share
MILLEN, GA - Although the Southeast Produce Council’s (SEPC) Southern Innovations conference ended several weeks ago, exciting news surrounding the event is still making its way down the newswire. The latest update from the association is that Tim Graas of Associated Wholesale Grocers has been appointed as SEPC’s new Board of Directors Chairman for 2022–2023.
Graas started in retail at the age of 16, and after spending 23 years in the sector, he decided to move to procurement in 2005. He has been with AWG ever since. The introduction of the council’s new Chairman was made on September 23 during the Chairman’s Dinner Dance at Southern Innovations in Nashville, Tennessee, a release explained.
Beginning with the company as a Produce Specialist, he has progressed to his current role as Executive Director of Produce Field Procurement, in which he oversees the produce procurement for nine divisions and over 3,200 member retailers.
David Sherrod, SEPC President and Chief Executive Officer, commented on Graas’ appointment.
“We are very excited to have Tim as our Chairman for the 2022–23 term,” he said. “Tim has proven to be an integral part of our executive team these past few years and has helped shape our goals and objectives. He is a man of strong character and someone who has compassion for others. He is a true asset to the SEPC.”
Raina Nelson, outgoing SEPC Chairman of the Board and President and Chief Executive Officer of Westfalia Fruit USA, also shared her excitement for Graas to take on the role.
“I am honored to pass the gavel to Tim Graas,” she commented. “He is a gracious and empathetic leader and has been a key contributor to our Executive Board. His chairman’s platform on sustainability will bring many exciting and thought-provoking content to the Council’s events. I am truly looking forward to his year as SEPC Chair. Congratulations, Tim!”
Best of luck to Tim Graas as he takes on this new position!
