Stemilt's 5 River Islands® Cherries Create Unique Shopping Experiences in the Produce Aisle
WENATCHEE, WA - Already working their magic on produce aisle sales, Stemilt is adding a little extra enchantment to the cherry category as it prepares to roll out its 5 River Island® cherries starting the first week of June. The limited-time pack is filled with California dark-sweet cherries, featuring optimal quality and delicious flavor that will cast a spell on consumers.
“Cherries are a huge sales driver to produce departments every summer. This brand highlights a one-of-a-kind growing locale, tells consumers an authentic story, and helps retailers call attention to delicious cherries grown in California,” explained Brianna Shales, Marketing Director. “Especially now, consumers seek out companies who are transparent about their products and share where their food is grown.”
Stemilt’s 5 River Islands cherries are grown in the California River Delta region, which is surrounded by miles of waterways. According to a press release, the cherries are precisely hand-picked to ensure the perfect size, firmness, and flavor standards to wow buyers and shoppers. Made up of 1,100 square miles that link 60 islands and more than 700 miles of waterway, the growing region where these cherries are harvested is one of the most unique in the country and has led to the high-quality nature of the cherry brand.
"5 River Islands come from a special locale and help wrap our California season,” said Shales. “This season, they will coincide with the start of our Washington cherries. This special pack is all about sharing a story of the California Delta and the great quality cherries it produces.”
The grower will have 5 River Islands through mid-June, and the limited-time offering will make for great category growth opportunities at retail. Packed in catch-weight bags and high-graphic, romantic boxes highlighting the brand’s unique growing location, consumers won’t be able to resist the charm of Stemilt’s exclusive brand.
“Currently, the only variety we pack under the 5 River Islands brand are Lapins,” Shales says. “The Lapin variety is known for its larger size, dark red coloring, and well-balanced flavor profile, and only the highest quality Lapins are included.”
As a recent study found, consumers' expectation of transparency continues to grow, with nearly 86 percent of Americans believing transparency from a business is more important than ever. Additionally, 73 percent of consumers are willing to pay more for products that guarantee transparency, which Stemilt and its 5 River Islands cherries provide to meet this growing demand.
“Stemilt’s commitment to transparency and growing for quality and flavor is apparent through the 5 River Islands brand,” explained Shales. “And we are excited to get this pack on the shelf for a brief time in June to keep delighting consumers into the start of the summer season.”
