Western Growers and Members Launch Social Media Campaign on COVID-19 Precautions for Farm Worker Health and Safety

IRVINE, CA - Farmworkers are more important now than ever as the COVID-19 pandemic develops and stay-at-home mandates continue to stay in effect across the country. These essential workers continue to work in the fields to harvest safe and healthy food to feed families across the country and world. To share appreciation for, as well as information about, this essential workforce, Western Growers and its members launched a series of videos that highlight farmworkers' efforts.

In Western Growers' new campaign, the association highlighs California growers and employees in a series of video clips showcasing their dedication and efforts to continue harvesting, packing, and delivering healthy and nutritious food to grocery stores and, ultimately, family tables. According to a press release, these videos are running on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Worker safety and food safety go hand-in-hand, and growers are being extra vigilant on all fronts to adhere to the necessary precautions. Many of the key ways to limit the spread of COVID-19 like good hygiene and sanitation are already an important part of the daily routine for workers. Health and sanitation practices that have been implemented in the fields and packing facilities in response to COVID-19 have been adapted with a focus on training, hygiene and sanitation, and social distancing.

We at AndNowUKnow continue to thank these essential workers and others on the frontlines.
