YAKIMA, WA - Cosmic Crisp® has announced an important milestone that could help retailers grab hold of some extra shopper dollars this fall. For the first time since it was launched, the apple variety will be hitting shelves in time for Thanksgiving due to maturing trees and warm weather conditions, shipping November 8.

“With a beautiful and large crop coming this year, we are making sure that consumers are served plenty of reasons to buy extra Cosmic Crisp apples during the fall and winter holiday timeframe,” said Kathryn Grandy, Chief Marketing Officer of Proprietary Variety Management, the company who markets the brand. “The flavor, texture, striking appearance, and versatility of Cosmic Crisp is what we all need for easy entertaining.”

This year, Cosmic Crisp will be shipped earlier than its past release dates of early December, according to a press release, and in preparation for the launch, the brand has a full lineup of promotional activities. Ranging from editorial coverage and events to influencer marketing and partnerships, Cosmic Crisp is positioning retailers for a strong start to the fall season.

Washington State farmers licensed to grow Cosmic Crisp are planning to ship 5 million boxes of apples across the U.S. throughout the season, which is anticipated to be a full year. This is significant as the variety has only been on the market for 12 months since its 2019 launch. Even with limited availability and the challenges of promoting new brands in an uncertain time, the apple reached 11^th overall ranking in the category last year.

In October, culinary professionals and food media will get acquainted with the variety through and International Association of Culinary Professionals event in Birmingham, Alabama. Additionally, the top-selling Apple Season special edition of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, where the Cosmic Crisp apple is featured in several recipes, is currently on newstands and in stores.

As Cosmic Crisp appears on shelves in November, the variety will also be shown on the cover of the November issue of Women’s Day Magazine as well as covered in the lifestyle publication Origin Magazine. Also in partnership with Meredith Media, the brand will have several print advertisements featuring holiday recipes and décor in the December issue of Martha Stewart Living and Better Homes and Gardens.

Throughout the following months, additional holiday content, social media promotions, and consumer giveaways will be rolled out. A special landing page will offer a full menu of on-trend ideas to incorporate Cosmic Crisp apples into seasonal entertaining, and in-store displays and events with retailers of the brand’s content are also planned in addition to another curbside pickup sampling.

Fans of the variety need not wait until its November arrival, as they can find the brand’s top-selling 2 Towns Ciderhouse Cosmic Crisp Imperial Cider in stores now. Since its debut last year, the hard cider has earned great reviews, and production has geared up to meet market demand. Coming soon will be additional secondary products including Crunch Pak Cosmic Crisp Sliced Apples, Tree Top Cosmic Crisp Apple Juice, and Cosmic Crisp Tree Top Apple Slices.
