Frieda’s Specialty Produce Recognizes Produce Industry Heroes and Parents As School Begins

LOS ALAMITOS, CA - The back-to-school season is traditionally one of the major marketing periods for fresh produce companies as they look to bridge the gap between parents’ needs and innovative solutions and healthy eating ideas. This year, the month of August has called an audible, but that does not mean that parents are any less in need of solutions—and being thanked!

Sonal Sanghvi, National Account Manager, Frieda’s Specialty Produce“Being a dedicated mother of two and a full-time working professional is a lot at the moment,” Sonal Sanghvi, National Account Manager and mother of two, stated. “I am looking for shortcuts that will help us make it through the day and make online schooling feel more normal."

This year working parents in the produce industry find themselves pulling double duty to make way for online and homeschooling. As Frieda’s always leads by example, the company is saluting these working parents who are giving their all. According to The Brookings Institution, roughly 70 percent of all parents in the U.S. have no caregiver for their children. What this suggests is that parents who normally rely on school programs and childcare will now be balancing the role of caregiver and working professional due to COVID-19.

So, what is there to do? Frieda’s suggests preparing meals ahead of time to help ease the mental energy of what’s for dinner.

Check out a Hatch Chile Mac and Cheese dish as an easy make-ahead meal that freezes well and can be eaten anytime, according to a press release. Or make a big batch of Stokes Purple Power Breakfast Bowl on Sunday morning to really set the tone for the week ahead.

Frieda’s also suggests taking a mid-day break to enjoy lunch as a family to reconnect or even pack lunch for remote-learning kids as a way to make homeschool feel a little more like real school. Tip? Remember to add things like kumquats and sliced watermelon radishes to add some flavor and crunch, the company shared.

Thought leaders will turn these difficult times into opportunities and I believe that Frieda's achieves this in leaps and bounds!
