SALINAS, CA - As we make our way into the holiday push, any information concerning vegetables is top priority. Cauliflower, a veggie that features prominently on my family’s table, is a category that is no stranger to the ups and downs of demand.

I spoke with Stephanie Cantero, Communications and Marketing Coordinator for The Nunes Company, to learn more.

Stephanie Cantero, Communications and Marketing Coordinator, The Nunes Company“The market is currently tight with industry volume down and high demand due to the holiday season,” she noted right off the bat. “Pricing is significantly higher in comparison to the previous season.”

The Nunes Company’s current cauliflower crop is coming in with better volume. The season will finish in Salinas, California, at the end of November, before the transition to Yuma, Arizona, at the beginning of December.

"The market is expected to continue to be active toward the end of the year,” Stephanie added. “The early report is that the crop is one to two weeks behind schedule due to weather-related issues and yields will be down.”

We’ll continue to keep an eye on key categories like this as we make our way through the holiday season, so stay tuned.
