Sunkist Hire Rayne Thompson as New Director of Government Relations and Public Policy
VALENCIA, CA – Sunkist Growers has hired Rayne Thompson as its new Director of Government Relations & Public Policy.
According to a press release, Rayne has worked extensively in both Washington D.C. and Sacramento, which makes her uniquely suited for this new role at Sunkist.
“Given her background, Rayne Thompson understands the challenges farmers face in a competitive global marketplace,” said Sunkist President & CEO Russell Hanlin. “Thompson’s understanding of legislative policy, pest/disease issues, and international trade will prove invaluable as she begins her work with Sunkist.”
Rayne has served in Washington as Administrator of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Marketing Service and in Sacramento as Deputy Secretary at California Department of Food and Agriculture.
She has also held positions with the Agriculture Council of California and the California Farm Bureau Federation. In those roles, she advocated for agriculture at both state and federal levels.
Rayne will be leaving her current position as Manager of Federal Policy at California Farm Bureau to join Sunkist. She will assume her new position the first week of January 2015.
