Sunkist® Launches New Packaging and Merchandising Campaign for Valencia Oranges; Christina Ward Shares
VALENCIA, CA - Sunkist Growers has taken fun, fresh summer vibes and encapsulated them in its newest campaign, The Official Orange of American Summers. Spotlighting the exclusive Valencia orange variety, the program includes a new 8 lb combo bag and matching display bins to drive consumer traffic to the produce aisles.
“Healthy eating is still top of mind for consumers,” said Christina Ward, Senior Director of Global Marketing. “Forty percent of citrus shoppers are trying to eat healthier, and 35 percent are focused on getting more vitamin C. Sunkist Valencia oranges are high in vitamin C and perfect for juicing and ‘fruitcuterie’ board presentations—a refreshing, flavorful, and nutritious way to celebrate the summer holiday.”
Exclusively grown in California, Valencias are a summer citrus staple and are available now through October, according to a release. Peak availability for the variety is in July, an ideal time for retailers to cash in on back-to-school and summer vacation demand.
To help draw even more consumers to the produce department, as part of the campaign, Sunkist will be hosting a sweepstakes that runs July 6 through August 5, with one winner receiving a prize package with Sunkist-branded items, a Chromebook, and a Visa gift card.
“Back-to-school shopping starts as early as July,” added Christina. “We wanted to make the experience bright and fun, just like our citrus. With that said, Sunkist will be hosting a sweepstakes giving eligible citrus fans an opportunity to win a Sunkist Back-to-School prize package valued at $3,000 and perfect for students of all ages.”
In addition to Valencia oranges, other summer citrus from Sunkist includes California Star Ruby grapefruit, Marsh Ruby grapefruit, and lemons.
