Aldi Opens New Headquarters in Alabama; Heather Moore Comments

ALABAMA - Is a massive regional headquarters and distribution center currently in the works in the state of Alabama? You bet it is! Aldi officially opened the large facility last Tuesday, with plans for more stores to come to the region.

Heather Moore, Divisional Vice President, Aldi“At Aldi, we really try hard, and we have a very big commitment to everybody we serve to offer the best quality products at amazing prices,” said Aldi Divisional Vice President Heather Moore. “With inflation and rising food costs, we all read the news, we know that, that message is more important today than it has ever been. And that fuels our expansion throughout the U.S. We’re continuing to expand coast to coast. But this facility here is really an especially important part of that puzzle.”

According to Moore, the new hub will bring Aldi stores within range of “about 8 million citizens of the Gulf Coast.”

The new hub is Aldi’s 26th in the United States and its sixth in the Southeast, according to AL.com. Its warehouse side opened in July, and the offices have now been completed. The new facility, which currently serves 30 stores, was designed to supply roughly 100, with territory spanning as far north as Tuscaloosa, Montgomery, and Starkville, Mississippi.

Aldi first announced its plans to build the new HQ and hub a little over two and a half years ago, holding a groundbreaking that the company says represented a $100 million investment. At that time, the grocer announced it has purchased 24 sites scattered from Baton Rouge to Tallahassee, and since then, the company has opened three new stores in Mobile and two in Baldwin County, with another opening set for March in Fairhope.

Aldi opened a total of 20 locations in the region in 2022 and aims to open 13 more over the course of 2023.

What growth will this critical expansion spark for Aldi’s ever-evolving footprint? Stay tuned to find out.
