Costco Reveals 7.2B-Dollar Boost With Third-Quarter and Year-to-Date Operating Results

We recently got our hands on Costco Wholesale Corporation’s operating results for the third quarter, which showed net sales increased 16.3 percent to $51.61 billion, a $7.23 billion boost from the $44.38 billion recorded last year.

For the first 36 weeks of fiscal 2022, which ended May 8, net sales increased 16.4 percent to $151.97 billion, compared to $130.61 billion last year. Sales in the United States outpaced international markets for the first 12 weeks, while Canada pulled ahead in the 36-week period.

Other details from the report include:

  • Net income for the quarter was $1,353 million, compared to $1,220 million last year
  • Net income for the first 36 weeks of fiscal 2022 was $3.98 billion compared to $3.34 billion last year

According to a release from the company, Costco operates 830 warehouses, including 574 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 105 in Canada, 40 in Mexico, 30 in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, 16 in Korea, 14 in Taiwan, 13 in Australia, four in Spain, two each in France and China, and one in Iceland. Additionally, Costco operates e-commerce sites in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and Australia.
