Lidl Announces First Store in Washington, DC; Michal Lagunionek Discusses



ARLINGTON, VA - Residents of Washington, DC, will gain access to Lidl’s fresh food selection later this year, as the retailer is entering the market for the first time. Members of Lidl’s leadership met with government officials to break ground on the new store last weekend, creating a buzz of excitement as this is the first new supermarket to serve residents in Wards 7 and 8 in more than a decade.

We look forward to building a great team at Skyland and opening our store once construction is completed later this year."

The new store is scheduled to open by late Fall 2022 and will create approximately 45 new jobs. Lidl offers an impressive assortment of fresh, high-quality products including produce and is recognized for its excellent shopping experience, a press release noted.

The store will be a major part of the area’s Skyland Town Center, which provides essential housing and retail and is continuing to grow.
