Southeastern Grocers Cuts Prices on Produce and 400 Other Items

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie, is implementing a new campaign that will cut prices on 400 grocery staples, including fresh produce, meat, dairy, and more.

“Down Down,” the company’s new pricing program, will reduce prices by up to 50 percent on items marked by the retailer’s Big Red (helping) Hand throughout the store. These discounts will remain in effect for at least six months, according to a press release.

The news follows similar announcements from Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie in which both retailers said they would also be dropping the prices on hundreds of in-demand grocery items. In total, more than 3,000 prices on items throughout these three stores have been lowered as a result of the discount programs.

Ian McLeod, President and CEO, Southeastern Grocers“We know that almost one in five people in the Southeast are relying on food subsidies to feed their families every week,” said Ian McLeod, President and CEO of Southeastern Grocers. “It is therefore not surprising that our customer surveys report that ‘affordable prices’ is the most important requirement from a grocery store.”

McLeod went on to say that these rollbacks are a reflection of the company’s commitment to ensure that it continues building a deeper sense of trust with its customers, and that he is serious about giving these shoppers lower prices.

“Savings are so significant that a family shopping at Bi-Lo or Winn-Dixie will now save over $700 this year as a result of these lower prices,” McLeod continued. This is a meaningful difference for any household budget.”
