It all started in 1999 during a trip to Brasil when local surfers introduced us to açaí. We were blown away by all the incredible flavors and potent nutrition of the local fruits. We wanted to share these amazing superfoods with the world – but in a way that respected the people and protected the natural resources of the area. So when we discovered that sustainable growth and harvesting of Amazon superfoods was not only possible, but could also create jobs and help protect the rainforest, we knew it was an opportunity of a lifetime. Before we left Brasil, we had a plan in place and in early 2000 Sambazon was born.
