IRELAND - Dynamic growth happens globally, as discount chain Aldi understands. Although a firm and rapidly-growing presence here in the United States, the retailer continues to seek out growth opportunities in countries throughout Europe. In order to support this move, it recently appointed Niall O’Connor as its new Group Managing Director.

In this newly created role, O’Connor will have overall responsibility for all of the company’s activities in Ireland. According to a report from The Irish Times, he brings over 20 years of experience with the retailer specifically, during which he has served in roles of varying responsibility. Prior to his career at Aldi, O’Connor worked with Avoca where he was Group Retail Manager.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, for Aldi in Britain and Ireland, commented on the exciting addition of O'Connor to Aldi's leadership team.

“Niall has made a huge contribution during his tenure at Aldi, developing our Irish buying team and leading our Mitchelstown region store teams through dynamic growth,” stated Hurley. “His appointment as Group Managing Director Ireland is a major step forward in poisitioning Aldi Ireland for further success in the years ahead.”
