Lidl US Chairman Roman Heini Announces Departure, Expansion to Continue Under Johannes Fieber



ARLINGTON, VA - This industry is constantly in motion, whether by external or internal forces. This week, Lidl US is experiencing a change within as its Chairman, Roman Heini, steps away after serving in the role since May of 2019.

Roman Heini, Outgoing Chairman, Lidl USHeini initially joined the team in October of 2018, bringing with him an extensive leadership background in retail. Before Lidl US, Heini served in a variety of executive management roles for Aldi Süd for over 20 years.

“This week, Roman Heini informed leaders at Lidl of his decision to leave the company to pursue other professional interests and to spend more time with his family,” the Lidl US team said in a statement. “We appreciate Roman’s commitment and contributions to Lidl throughout his tenure, which have helped position Lidl for greater success in the future.”

Upon his move up to Chairman, Heini had relocated to the company’s Arlington, Virginia, headquarters to collaborate with the management team, led by Lidl US CEO Johannes Fieber.

“Lidl will continue its expansion in the United States under the direction and guidance of its CEO, Johannes Fieber. Johannes assumed responsibility for Lidl US as CEO in May 2018 and will continue to work closely with the Lidl International team to drive the business forward,” the company said.

This seems to promise a seamless transition, as the team will reportedly continue to focus on supporting and optimizing Lidl’s U.S. store operations, its Best Market integration in New York and New Jersey, and the grocer’s ongoing expansion into new markets along the East Coast.
