Mastronardi Produce® Enters Into Agreement With VetaNova; Paul Mastronardi Discusses
KINGSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA & AVONDALE, CO - A major development has taken place in the fresh sector. Recently, Mastronardi Produce® and VetaNova, an operator of energy-efficient solar-powered greenhouses, established a long-term, exclusive distribution agreement to grow all fruits and vegetables within the operator’s greenhouses located in Avondale, Colorado.
“Colorado has a particularly strong desire for local fresh fruits and vegetables, and this new farm bolsters our supply alongside production from our current greenhouse in Brush, Colorado,” said Paul Mastronardi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mastronardi Produce. “The Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) space is rapidly evolving, and solar-powered greenhouses increase what we know is already the most sustainable way to grow. This is a significant milestone for the Colorado area farming and food sectors.”
Initially, the greenhouse will start with a 25-acre range; plans for expansion will increase the area up to 157 acres, noted the release. In addition, the new Avondale facility is within close proximity to several major retailers and foodservice operators. This in turn will create more stable accessibility to locally grown SUNSET® products such as tomatoes, peppers, and leafy greens, even on the coldest Colorado winter day.
As both Mastronardi and VetaNova share a passion for delivering fresh, sustainably grown produce to consumers, this new agreement is a win-win for both suppliers and buyers in Colorado.
