The Mulholland Family Featured in Sunkist Family Stories
VALENCIA, CA - With all eyes on mandarin season, Sunkist Growers is celebrating by adding a new addition to its Sunkist Family Stories program. This time selecting the Mulholland family, an Orange Cove-based citrus grower-shipper of primarily mandarins, Sunkist is using the multimedia storytelling project to share the rich heritage of this longtime grower.
“Highlighting Sunkist’s commitment to quality and authenticity, our farm-to-table stories resonate with consumers all over the world,” said Director of Communications Joan Wickham. “We are proud to share the values and legacy of Sunkist’s history through our Sunkist Family Stories and are thrilled to now feature the Mulholland’s story as part of the growing program.”
A running series for the company, Sunkist Family Stories profile the many families that make up the 125-year old citrus cooperative and offers a unique view into the life of today’s modern farmer. According to a press release, the program is designed to transport consumers to the bright citrus groves of California and Arizona, as well as teach viewers about traditional growing practices, innovation, and the dedication to quality that has been passed down through generations of Sunkist members' family-owned farms.
This iteration of the Sunkist Family Stories shows the Mulhollands as the first family to grow and market Murcott mandarins in California, and touches on the valuable experience and industry knowledge that has been passed down by family’s four generations. As we previously reported, the company recently introduced its Sunkist Delite™ mandarin program, offering retailers, growers, and consumers alike the high quality and rich story that the cooperative has been known for.
“Sunkist Delite California mandarin season is in full swing, making this fresh content ripe for promotion,” continued Wickham. “Consumers today are looking for food with a story, and we’re proud to tell ours through the Sunkist Family Story program.”
In total, the Sunkist cooperative of family farms offers more than 40 fresh citrus varieties, and has included thousands of grower members in California and Arizona throughout its 125-year history.
