Owyhee Produce’s Bailey Myers Divulges Details on New Product and Expansions

PARMA, ID - Excitement fills the air as our industry packs their essentials and marks attractions on their itinerary. For what, you may ask? Texas International Produce Association’s (TIPA) Viva Fresh Expo, of course! One booth to circle on the show floor map is booth #800, the Texan home for Owyhee Produce. Bailey Myers gives me the lowdown on the sweet onion goodness retailers should keep stocked as this spring season swells.

Bailey Myers, Agri-Tourism and Marketing Director, Owyhee Produce“The Owyhee team is excited to showcase our new Buck Naked whole peel onions,” Bailey, Agri-Tourism and Marketing Director, tells me. “Our program offers a time- and money-saving option that is perfect for our ready-to-eat suppliers.”

Owyhee is eager to meet with industry members once more in person, not only to reconnect with friends but also to dive deep into the perks and tips of its whole peel onions. A few advantages retailers will be interested to hear are how the program can help reduce cost and labor in the kitchen and how to cut down on food waste, key attractions for those looking to fulfill convenience and time-saving needs.

Owyhee Produce will be spotlighting its Buck Naked whole peel onions at Viva Fresh 2022, which offer a time- and money-saving option that is perfect for ready-to-eat suppliers

With whole peel onions continuing to gain traction, the grower is planning on bolstering the momentum with a strategic expansion.

“We are focused on furthering the expansion of our whole peel facilities to better meet the demands from both customers and consumers,” continues Bailey. “In addition, we are aiming to increase our watermelon operation and onion acres.”

While the grower is looking to extend its growing operations, Owyhee is continuing to keep sustainability and awareness top of mind. One project close to the grower’s mission is spreading agricultural awareness and education.

Owyhee Produce also announced the expansion of its whole peel facilities to better meet the uptick in demand from both customers and consumers

“At Owyhee, we are committed to raising awareness and education, not just for our company but for the industry as a whole,” Bailey explains. “We believe that if we want to keep agriculture in America, we need to bridge the gap between consumers and producers. Social media has continued to become a valuable and unique tool for us, and we’re continuing to explore this space more.”

If you’re curious to learn more about the grower’s new offering and expansion plans, stop by booth #800 to catch up with the Owyhee team and say hello! ANUK will continue to cover all things fresh in the lead up to this week’s show.
