Publix Breaks Ground on North Carolina Distribution Center



LAKELAND, FL - Publix recently broke ground on a new facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, which, according to the Triad Business Journal, is anticipated to invest $400 million into the market. Standing at just over 940,000 square feet, this new distribution center is set to bring up to 1,000 jobs to the region by 2025.

Todd Jones, Chief Executive Officer, Publix“The Greensboro Distribution Center will play a key role in supporting our growth in the region,” Chief Executive Officer Todd Jones said in a recent press release. “The hundreds of new associates who join the Publix family will help us provide the premier service our customers have come to expect.”

The facility, with an expected completion sometime in 2022, will support more efficient delivery of refrigerated products to Publix locations in the Carolinas and Virginia.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Publix presented donations to two local nonprofit organizations, BackPack Beginnings and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. Each $2,500 donation supports the charities' programs to help alleviate hunger by providing children with backpacks of food.
