LAKELAND, FL - Publix is zeroing in on that increasingly sought-after online shopping market, having created a new Vice President position to steer the helm of omnichannel operations. The retailer’s CEO and President Todd Jones announced longtime employee Erik Katenkamp has been named as Vice President of Omnichannel and Application Development.

“We are proud of the work Erik and his team have accomplished. With dedicated resources, we will be able to focus on the accelerated growth of our omnichannel strategy,” Jones commented.

When it comes to further developing cyber offerings and honing the e-commerce branch of its operations, Katenkamp has already made his mark in playing an instrumental part in the retailer’s launch of Publix Delivery online shopping and formalizing its collaboration with Instacart.

Katenkamp joined the Publix team in 1995 as an industrial engineer in manufacturing after beginning in the aerospace industry, according to a press release. He has since worked his way up throughout the company, becoming Vice President of Information Systems—Application Development in 2013.

Now, he will look to lead the company’s e-commerce operation in the same fashion its brick & mortar is run, focusing on developing and executing Publix’s omnichannel strategy.

“Our online offerings are an extension of our in-store experience,” Jones said. “We remain committed to providing exceptional service to our customers in whichever manner they choose to shop with us."
