IRWINDALE, CA – As the U.S. watches and experiences Hurricane Harvey, all hearts and eyes in the industry are centered on Texas. With lots of helping hands contributing to those affected both from our own shores and beyond, Ready Pac Foods has led its own charge to uplift those in need.

Recently, Ready Pac Foods and its CEO, Tony Sarsam, worked with the Red Cross to get salads to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Texans are currently struggling to find access to food amidst the storm, let alone products that will contribute to their health. 

“Giving back to the community has always been an important part of Ready Pac Foods culture and knowing there would be a big need in Texas with the storm coming, we had to get involved,” said Sarsam. “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by Hurricane Harvey and the resulting devastating floods.”

Ready Pac Foods loaded cases of 24,000 Chicken Caesar Bistro Bowls into a truck from its Irwindale, CA, plant. According to a statement from the company, Ready Pac Foods is working closely with The Red Cross to get the salads quickly to those in need. 

As we recently reported, Harvey first made landfall in Southeastern Texas as a Category 4 hurricane. Rainfall in the affected regions has been recorded near 31 inches in some areas, causing flooding and infrastructure damage. Harvey has since been classified as a tropical storm. 

Ready Pac Foods is joining a growing list of buy-side companies that are donating their efforts and tools to further help the stricken Texas community. That list includes notable names such as Amazon and Whole Foods, H-E-B, Starbucks, Walmart, and Dollar General, just to name a few.
