WARSAW, POLAND - A criminal attempt to smuggle drugs under the guise of fresh produce has been foiled again, this time in Warsaw, Poland, as workers at the supermarket chain Carrefour SA uncovered suspicious parcels in a delivery of bananas. After being examined by police, the packages were confirmed to be 30 million Polish złotys ($8.14 million USD) worth of cocaine.

"They immediately notified the police, who quickly secured the batch of goods and started an investigation that is currently underway," said Carrefour in a statement to Reuters, also adding that the retailer was cooperating with the investigation.

The packages, according to a press release, contained over 160 kilograms (352.74 lbs) of cocaine.

After news sources in Warsaw confirmed the discovery of the drugs at the Carrefour store in the center of the city, later other parcels of cocaine were uncovered at other store locations throughout Warsaw.

Thank you to the officers that continue to preserve the reputation of fresh produce.
