H-E-B Donates $1 Million in Aid to Supplement Winter Storm Relief

SAN ANTONIO, TX - Hailing from California, I am all too familiar with natural disasters and the heavy impact that they make on not only local communities, but the state as a whole. That is why my heart is with Texas as they brave this harsh storm, and why I was elated to see the vital support that is coming from retailer H-E-B as it continues to help its fellow Texans recover. The company recently announced that it will donate $1 million to aid Texas-based food banks while working with its supplier partners to provide resources for those in need.

Winell Herron, Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs, H-E-B“As we emerge from the bitter cold, these donations come at a critical time to help our fellow Texans get back on their feet,” said Winell Herron, Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs. “H-E-B is here for Texas, and we will do everything we can to support those in need across our great state.”

H-E-B’s donation will give support to 18 food banks across Texas, according to a press release. The retailer will work directly with food banks and organizations that are affiliated with Feeding Texas, a member of Feeding America.

In addition to its monetary donation, H-E-B has already delivered more than 23 truckloads of food and over $100,000 in Meal Simple meals to other food banks throughout the Lone Star state.

To further meet the needs of those affected by the storm, H-E-B is working alongside its supplier partners like Zen Water and Publix to provide much-needed items like water. The pair have already committed to delivering 10 truckloads of water to Texas food banks this week. H-E-B’s partner Proud Source Water has also pledged a trailer load of water, bringing the total number of water donations to over 725,000 bottles.

H-E-B will be launching a donation campaign online and in all of its Texas stores allowing consumers to contribute monetary donations at the register or by going online. Customers will be able to make donations in $1, $3, and $5 increments, with all funds from the campaign going to support Texas food banks affiliated with Feeding Texas.

We would like to commend H-E-B for its ongoing support of its fellow Texans, and our thoughts are with those struggling across the state.
