Jim Corby Appointed as Vice President of Produce at The Fresh Market

GREENSBORO, NC - Jim Corby has resigned from his position as the Director of Produce at Save Mart, and joined The Fresh Market as the new Vice President of Produce, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Jim Corby, Vice President of Produce, The Fresh MarketCorby’s appointment comes at an opportune time for the retailer as it seeks to revamp its fresh foods department as part of a four-part turnaround plan previously announced by CEO Rick Anicetti. This is the second well-known retail produce executive that has been employed by The Fresh Market this month, the first being Walmart’s former perishables merchandiser Pamela Kohn

It comes as no surprise to us that Jim Corby is joining the team at The Fresh Market. Jim worked for CEO Rick Anicetti when Anicetti served for eight years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Food Lion grocery stores, a subsidiary of Delhaize Group.

The Fresh Market

Prior to Corby’s two-year stint at Save Mart, Corby was the former Vice President of Produce Merchandising for Delhaize America. He also led the Produce Department at ABCO in Phoenix, AZ, prior to that.

Industry members know and respect Corby most for his professionalism and knowledge. His long-standing experience serving various retailers, as well as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fruit and Vegetable Advisory Committee and the Produce Traceability Initiative’s leadership council have equipped him with the expertise necessary to lead his career in fresh produce retailing.
