United Fresh Produce Association and Produce Marketing Association Come Together to Officially Launch International Fresh Produce Association; Cathy Burns and Tom Stenzel Discuss
WASHINGTON, DC - The new year has arrived, and it has brought with it a VIP guest: the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA). Making its official debut, the new association is preparing for a bright future with plans to help overcome the persistent challenges the fresh produce industry faces. To give the industry the rundown on what to expect, Co-Chief Executive Officer’s Cathy Burns and Tom Stenzel shared an exclusive message to detail what the future holds.
“As we all know, the past few years have certainly confirmed for us that we are entering an entirely new era. The whole world is sharing in significant and unparalleled challenges. But the good news is that our industry has the insight, the ability, the determination, the grit, and most importantly the opportunity to provide solutions to these ever-changing challenges,” said Burns. “In order to meet them we need to do things differently. We must do things differently and the IFPA is a new association for today. We’re not an iteration. We are a transformation.”
In order to make this transformation a successful one, both Burns and Stenzel went on to stress the importance of collaboration as the association moves forward.
With its eyes set on global impact and making the industry’s voice heard on the world stage, IFPA is looking to build its membership base in order to overcome ongoing challenges.
“The International Fresh Produce Association will be the engine that helps drive our industry forward. But the fuel for that engine is all of you, our members, our stakeholders, our friends, our colleagues. You will help us drive this mission forward to achieve those goals…” added Stenzel. “International Fresh Produce Association will be your advocate. We’ll advocate for your business, but also for our industry on a global basis where our voice needs to be heard.”
